Social and Resource Development Fund (SARD) is the principal body responsible for providing platform for interaction between project implementing agencies and donors. And it co-ordinates various developmental projects as well. Mission Statement: 1- To assist the socio-economic rehabilitation of the Tibetan people with sustainable self-sufficiency as the prime goal. 2- To support improved education, health, environmental awareness and employment programs in the community. 3- To preserve and promote under standing of Tibetan religion, art and culture. 4- To generate income for the Emergency Fund that provides support to the poorest in the community. 5- To support the development of democracy in the Tibetan community, looking forward to a future Tibet where people will live in harmony with each other and with the natural environment. SARD supports the ongoing developmental activities of the Tibetan community in exile in terms of their project budget and other financial needs. Besides, we help administration of a number of "Indirectly Funded Projects" of private and individual donors. Our activities range from following up the appeals made by His Holiness during his meetings with dignitaries abroad to contacting bilateral donors like, US Humanitarian Assistance, EU, MFA, Norway & Copenhagen, Provincial government of Spain & Italy, Irish government to gain support for the bigger programmes to lobbying dignitaries and parliamentarians. During the last three years, we have secured $ 2,822,363 for our programmes. A decision is now taken to channel all future CTA funding through SARD's External Grant Unit, so that we could effectively distribute the funds, monitor them and avoid funding overlaps. |
